CASE 4
Contributing to yield improvement with non-silicon labels
Industry: Hard disk manufacturer
Client's Problem
The manufacturing process of hard disk industry cannot use secondary materials containing silicon in order to increase the yield of products. The same is true for labels, which will damage the product if they contain silicon ingredients. In addition, there is a risk of static electricity due to peeling electrification when peeling off film-based labels.
Our client consulted whether there is a label that solves these problems.
Proposed Product
-
Non-silicon label
Normal labels use silicon on the release paper side that is peeled off during application. In this issue, the silicon component is a problem, so we proposed a label with special specifications that has sufficient peelability even without using silicon. In addition, in order to prevent the generation of static electricity when the label is peeled off, we used STACLEAN, a dust-free paper that is resistant to peeling static electricity as the base material.
In addition, most non-silicon labels have weak adhesive strength, but we have made a special order with a certain amount of adhesive strength.
Result
By changing to non-silicon labels made of dust-free paper, they were able to solve two issues: silicon contamination and the risk of static electricity generation.
They were able to improve the yield rate without imposing a burden on the site, which was very helpful because they only changed the label and the work process was the same as before.
